Hollywood has a serious diversity epidemic. A natural feeder into the film industry, USC’s School of Cinematic Arts has a 50% female population. Unfortunately, this representation does not translate to Hollywood. According to the Comprehensive Annenberg Report on Diversity in Entertainment, women only direct around 3% of the top films. Females and other minority filmmakers are unable to find work because of a cycle where the men in power hire their friends -- other men. However, we can fix this problem by affecting change from the bottom up. To do so, the Women of Cinematic Arts will create a network of feminist content creators who can support each other both in school and beyond.
